Wern Oleu is a peaceful, working smallholding nestled in the Mid Wales countryside, farmed under organic principles for over 30 years. Guests staying with us often get to experience the rhythms of rural life — from spotting sheep, pigs, cattle, and rare poultry breeds, to witnessing seasonal farm activities firsthand.
We’re proud participants in Welsh Government conservation efforts, with projects that include planting broadleaf woodland and installing bird nesting boxes. Montgomeryshire is renowned for its oak trees, and you’ll find plenty of evidence of that heritage across the site.
Though not open to the public, our homegrown eggs, vegetables, and meat are occasionally available to guests during their stay. We welcome curiosity and connection with the land — but as a working farm, we kindly ask all visitors (especially families with children) to be mindful around machinery and animals.
Our certified campsite is open year-round (weather permitting) and welcomes up to five touring caravans or motorhomes, or up to ten tents. We offer a relaxed, back-to-nature experience with the comforts that matter most:
Flat grass pitches
Electric hook-up
Natural spring water
Chemical waste disposal
Modern shower block with two toilets, two showers, and a washing-up area
Unlimited high-speed broadband (available with Fully Serviced package)
We’re just a short distance from the Llanfechain community shop, open daily for essentials and local goods, and within walking distance of three characterful pubs: Plas Yn Dinas, The Stumble Inn, and The Cross Keys Inn. You’ll also find St Garmon’s Church nearby — a peaceful spot that reflects the spirit of the village.
